Every now and then, I’m going to present some short films here at Subtitles to Cinema. It can either be random discoveries, well-known classics or even some of my own stories. Today, I’d like to share the brilliant French short film J’Attendrai Le Suivant (2002), directed by Philippe Orreindy. It is a perfectly told story, and I would ruin it by writing too much about it beforehand. So, enjoy – and please do leave any thoughts in the comments.

Oh no. Heartless.
Hvordan det stadig ble klippet tilbake til ansiktet hennes, forventningsfullt, og til fyren som gjorde seg sjarmerende… og så den raske avgangen. Au!
Brakes my heart. On the other hand, she’s the only utopist candid here and that’s beautiful, but I bet that after this she completely lost her innocence :(
Hooray for her ! At least she won’t have to wonder for the rest of her life, ‘what if’… and she’ll have a great story to tell her grandkids later. I hope the next scene of this movie was of her laughing her head off…..and saying, “oh well…..that was funny !”
